About

The Woman Behind SonderBound

Hi, I’m Kemshah. I’m a Colorado native with over six years of experience working closely with children and families in all kinds of intimate, hands-on ways. Most of those years, I’ve been a nanny to newborns and young babies, showing up daily to support parents in the thick of it. I’ve taught mommy-and-me classes, helped little ones grow through play, and worked one-on-one with kids in a school setting. That time taught me so much about the quiet, powerful rhythms of early family life — and it’s what led me here, to postpartum care. I carry that same attentiveness, warmth, and respect for the parent-child bond into every home I enter as a doula.

When I’m not supporting families, you’ll find me reading outside / walking my lovely dogs /writing / making playlists / spending time with my family!

Why work with me?

Choosing a doula is deeply personal, and I’m honored to support you through such an important time. Here’s what I bring to the table:

  • Certified and Trained: I’m CPR certified and trained through DONA International, ensuring you receive knowledgeable and trusted care.
  • Extended Experience: With over six years working closely with children and families, including hands-on nannying and teaching, I understand the realities of early parenthood.
  • Heart-Centered Support: I combine my training with a warm, flexible approach that adapts to your unique needs and rhythm.

I’m committed to being a steady, understanding presence as you navigate this incredible journey.

Why I created SonderBound

SonderBound came from something I felt over and over again while working in homes, schools, and community spaces: the sense that new parents were quietly carrying the weight of becoming someone entirely new, with very little space to talk about it, let alone be cared for in it.

I’ve spent years caring for babies — feeding them, soothing them, watching their milestones unfold. But again and again, I kept noticing the people behind the babies. The moms who hadn’t slept or eaten well in days. The ones who were silently grieving their old lives. The parents who were doing everything “right” on the outside but felt completely disconnected on the inside. And they weren’t broken — they were simply unseen.

I created Sonderbound because I believe in honoring the full experience of early parenthood. Not just the sweet parts that make it to Instagram, but the messy, uncertain, often sacred moments no one else sees. The name itself comes from sonder — the idea that everyone is living a life as vivid and layered as your own. It’s that realization that changed the way I moved through the world, and it’s what shapes the care I offer now. You are not just a vessel for a baby. You are a whole human being in the middle of something life-altering — and you deserve to be seen, held, and supported through it.

My Approach

I believe postpartum support should be easygoing and all about what you need. There’s no one-size-fits-all here — I’m here to listen, roll with whatever’s happening, and offer the kind of help that actually makes your day easier.

Whether it’s lending a hand with baby stuff, helping out around the house, or offering gentle guidance, I’m here to be a calm, steady presence you can count on. My goal is to support you through this wild, beautiful transition in whatever way feels right for you.
